Sunday Adult Class

Sunday Adult Class

Room 101 | Sunday 11:00am | with Pastor Jason

I'm excited to let you know that we'll be working through a study put together by Christianity Today called Redeeming Work: Bridging the Gap Between Faith & Work. We'll begin this six-session study on May 10 through to June 14, and it'll be held Sundays at 11:00am in Room 101.

I really do encourage you to consider being a part of this - learning, thinking through and engaging our faith in Christ with the very work we do. Every class will be video-driven sessions intended to build relationships and spur dialogue. There is an outline of the class below. You can also go to this website to watch a short 2-minute-ish video and see what this study is about: (you do not need to purchase the study; we have already acquired a copy).

Together with Francis Chung, I hope to look into God's teaching in the Bible with you, to wrestle with questions and struggles that you face in your actual workplace, or in your journey to discover your vocation, and to really strengthen a community of brothers and sisters spurring one another on in each and all our work together, for the glory of God.

We'd love if you could help spread the word to your friends in your fellowship or care group, and to anyone you believe might benefit from this.

And we'd appreciate if you could sign up for this class, so that we know how many materials to prepare in advance.

Redeeming Work: Bridging the Gap Between Faith & Work

Six Sessions - May 10 to June 14

Sundays 11:00am in Room 101

Session One - May 10

What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up? Genesis 1-2

Why did God give us work to do? Rediscover the created goodness of work.

Session Two - May 17

But I Hate My Job Genesis 3 and Exodus 5

As kids we may dream of exciting careers. As adults, we more often lament the beginning of the workweek. Confront the reality of work in a broken world.

Session Three - May 24

Redeeming Work Proverbs 31:10-31

When Christians succeed in the marketplace, everyone prospers as a result. Understand the role work plays in God's larger story of redemption.

Session Four - May 31

Calling or Career? 1 Corinthians 7:17-24

What if I don't feel "called" to my job? Expand our view of calling beyond occupation to vocation.

Session Five - June 7

The Powers That Be Proverbs 11:10 and Psalm 72

Every workplace distributes and limits power. God can use us both when we are "powerful" and when we feel powerless.

Session Six - June 14

The God We Serve Genesis 45:4-14

Too often we reduce our identity to our work. But our identity is in Christ, and the meaning of our work flows from that relationship.
